Ride 3 - Pont Scethin - A real hidden gem of a route. 17.5 miles/ 28km (although with 3300ft/ 1000m of climbing it seems a lot further). Click here to see this route

Reservoirs - Some of the most dramatic of man's additions to the scenery of Mid-Wales.

Ride 5 - Horseshoe Pass - 33 miles/ 53km. Lung-busting climbs are rewarded with stunning scenery on this route around Llangollen.

Legendary Heroes - Celtic history is full of tales of big hairy blokes with swords. Find out about 3 of the most famous.

Ride 6 - Cadair Idris - Real 'mountain' biking. More like a walk with unwieldy luggage than a bike ride for much of the climb! But worth it for the sense of achievement, stunning views - oh and the 6mile/ 9km descent.

Ride 7 - Tanat Valley & the Berwyns - 18.5 miles/ 29.5km. Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant is not exactly the centre of the universe - but it is in the middle of some top mountain biking country.

Welsh Place Names - Believe it or not all those unpronounceable looking place names with far to few vowels for their own good do actually mean something.

Ride 8 - Kerry Hill - 26.5 miles/ 43km. A big loop in the hills above Newtown.

Historic Tracks - Did you know that many of the tracks you ride may have been in use for thousands of years? Read this section and feel the history beneath your wheels the next time you're out in the hills.

Ride 10 - The Longmynd - 20 miles/ 32km. Still one of the best places I've ever ridden.

Ride 11 - The Stiperstones - 25 miles/ 40km. A cross-border cruise with a few gnarly descents and spooky tales to keep you on your toes!

Ride 12 - Ironbridge - 9.5 miles/ 15km. A short route, but it packs in plenty of scenery, fascinating history, tempting pubs - oh and some good riding too!.

Industry - Believe it or not an upturned bicycle was once an important part of some miners' kit!

Ride 13 - Beacon Hill & Offa's Dyke - 19 miles/ 30km. A cross border raid starting from King Offa's ancient border defences

Geology - Gnarly stuff that sticks out of the ground waiting to wreck you rims and break your bones!

Hill Farming - Did you know that Corgis were originally bred by Welsh cattle drovers? Their short legs allowed them to run between cows' legs!

Ride 15 - Devil's Bridge & the Vale of Rheidol - 14.4 miles/ 23km. A fairly short route, but with plenty of gorgeous scenery and a chance to see the famous Devil's Bridge and Waterfalls.

Legends & Superstitions - More implausible tales from feverish Celtic minds

Ride 16 - Nant-y-Moch Reservoir - 17.5 miles/ 28km. A nice little route with lakes, forests, moorland, top views and some deep fords

Moorland Birds - The wild hills of Wales and the Marches are a refuge for some of this country's most impressive, beautiful and rare birds.

Ride 20 - Claerwen Valley - 16 miles/ 25.5km. Another top bit of mountain biking in the Elan area.

Forests - Did you know that the average person in Britain uses the equivalent of 1 large tree every year? No wonder there are so many forests in Wales.

Woodland Creatures - Forests are more than just paper factories. They also provide homes for a wide range of wild beasties.

Ride 21 - Hergest Ridge - Only 9.5 miles/ 15km but still with plenty of good riding and brilliant views.

Ride 22 - Radnor Forest - 16 miles/ 25.5km. A forest with no trees! Except that now it has got some. Confused? Don't worry about it - just enjoy the top riding with some totally brilliant descents.
